Human history has been a history of conflicts and wars orchestrated by the needs of survival for the majority of the population on one side against oppressions and exploitations by a handful of people enjoying rights of control over the resources needed for survival on the other side. In every social context conflicts, competitions and dominance of one over the other are apparent in every ages. Conflicts have been seen as catalysts for changes in the society leading to restructuring and redesigning the social fabrics. Thus history has witnessed many revolutions in the past replacing one group by another in the helm of power. Theses changes have, in their turn, planted new form of conflicts and given rise to new social dynamics bringing new revolution once again. Thus history has seen a continuous procession of changes from one age to another.
Hegel, Marx and Engel have interpreted these changes as a historical necessity of a dialectical process which runs its course like predetermined law which determines social evolution. For Hegel it is the Divine Spirit, manifested as reason, which drives this process with a goal to reveal the truth which is the underlying essence of the Being. As the society evolves this truth incarnates as freedom in the life of the social beings. For Marx and Engel, instead of the fuzzy Spirit and its intervention through reason, the dialectical tensions rise from the nature of the existence of the material world itself. It is the material content of the world which throws the social beings in modes of production, competitions , exploitations, profits and building tensions between the capitalists, who exploit and the proletariats who are exploited.
Both ideas have great implications in forming the modern history of mankind. Hegel`s conception of the state as the social body through which the Spirit enacts its dialectical process has given rise to authoritarian developments which curb freedom instead of bringing forth freedom in the life of the people who live under state control. Similarly Marxists view of freedom of the labouring proletariats from the chains of the capitalist exploiters have resulted into social misery for many due to control and lack of freedom to explore life in its multidimensional beauty.
Departing from the Hegelian and Marxist views we see the dynamics behind the social evolution as aspects rooted in the minds of the humans themselves. Conflicts and wars are consequences of the state of development of the human mind. These developments are results of the material conditions in which one is constrained to live, as well as the opportunities one may enjoy in accessing knowledge and information about the world which imprisons. To break free from the conditions, which makes one unfree, one requires knowledge of the material world, perspectives about one`s relations with the living world, and the awareness of the power which one possesses as a part of the cosmic being. They are necessary requirements for redesigning the reality according to one`s own need for freedom.
Every human being is born in a condition which offers varied opportunities to meet the needs for survival and security and means to defend one`s life against the predators. In a condition of limited resources the competitions become fierce. Those who enjoy advantages of knowledge and able to create new means of utilizing these advantages by using their creative imagination, often come out as the winners. They become the power elites of the society. The creative initiatives that the elites take to maintain their hegemony, however, create new social conditions which inject new knowledge and mobility in the society. The restructured social ground may result in innovations made by other, outside the ruling elites, who now come into advantageous positions of power. The new group replace the old rulers. The innovations they make may similarly push the dynamics in the same way to the next phase of history when a newer group replaces the innovators and overtakes the rule of the society. Looking from the Hegelian perspective one may call it the dialectics of reason i.e. the power of reason unfolding through history by following the path of innovation and creativity.
Greater access to knowledge and innovation by a larger population reduces the monopoly of smaller groups and redistributes power to a larger sector of the population. This is the foundation of a true democracy, which in its social orientation aims at empowering all with necessary knowledge and awareness which may create foundation of freedom for one`s life.
However, redistributing power among the mass will not necessarily bring mankind to an enlightened path. It requires an evolution of values and visions with which one may redesign the conditions of reality fitting with a higher mental world beyond instinctual needs and gratification.
As long as human activities are results of the primary needs, the war and conflicts would perpetuate, and history would not progress to reveal any higher realm of the mind. Instead it will remain bogged down in the darkness of the world where all other animals belong. Conflicts will give rise to new conflicts and the same humans will replace themselves in different clothing without evolving to any higher mental realm.
As an alternative we dream of a social evolution which will be inspired by the idea of the higher evolution of the mind beyond the primary level of engaging in the competitions for survival and ascertaining one`s advantage over the others in terms of power of consumption and social dominance.
The way to make the progress, which will bring higher evolution of the mind, is to focus on the nature of the mind and its relations with the living and the nonliving world. The knowledge about the mind and the spheres of consciousness through which we make journey of life is central in making this progress. The so-
In our view power of creativity creates means to connect to one`s higher nature and find new paths to explore. By connecting to one`s higher mind one may sow the seeds of higher evolution of the society.
So creativity becomes a clue to the process of building a social order where an enlightened democracy, which would be the true foundation of freedom based on the awareness of unity of all, and the meaning of individual existence as part of the cosmic being, may emerge.
